Light Up Your World with Brush and Paint
Chinese calligraphy and painting are traditional arts. The beauty of calligraphy and painting not only lies in the flowing beauty of thousands of brushes and ink, the beauty of changes between fingers and wrists, but also “breathing, health preservation, physical movement, the expression of temperament, the study of life and affairs, and the power of stability and blessing”. Finally, it has become “the most real ceremony to get along with yourself”.
Auesome’s calligraphy and ink painting course is not only about the unilateral output of teachers, which enables students to learn to write words well and draw beautifully with brush and ink, but also teachers and students feeling the happiness in the brush and ink game, sharing and responding, teaching and learning in the process of continuous interaction, and jointly forming the Auesome calligraphy and painting learning system. Calligraphy and painting are just one of our methods. So, through painting and calligraphy, where do we get to?
Meditation and Concentration
The first door to learning calligraphy is to concentrate on practice. From the brush to the mind, establish a balance between stability and flexibility, find the concentration and calm of inward foothold, and do not easily deviate and panic due to the movements of the outside world and others.
To be specific: writing depends on the elasticity of the brush tip. The so-called ability to write means that you can use the tip instead of drawing arbitrarily on paper with a brush. Let’s write the simplest “centre crossing stroke”. Even if it’s such a simple exercise, the hands shall be stable and the heart should be focused in the whole process, so as to do well. When you breathe evenly, focus on the matter of writing “centre crossing stroke”, focus on the tip of the brush, put your heart on the feeling of writing at the moment, and draw one by one in a down-to-earth manner. Even if you don’t write well, it doesn’t matter. Good and bad are only for a while, so you don’t have to focus on the gains and losses at the moment.
When we can focus on the “tip” of a focus, your state is quiet and peaceful. Our mind, like our muscles, needs healthy and continuous exercise. Calligraphy is helping to exercise our mental strength.
协调与控制
Coordination and Control
Calligraphy is a very delicate activity. When children first practice writing lines in books, they are stiff and unstable, and use ink either thick or dry. After repeated practice on paper, compared with the initial lines, you will find that the lines are not only smooth but also very strong. This process exercises the children’s coordination ability, and makes them realize the corresponding relationship between body movements and paper tracks; The movement of the hand is smooth, the track of the line is smooth, and when the hand is forced, the line shows deep traces and strength. This experience promotes the correspondence between the brain, eyes, heart and hands, so as to more accurately control the priorities of pen movement.
Calligraphy practice is a vivid dynamic system. If you want to write the characters correctly, you must concentrate and use both eyes and brain. Before writing, carefully observe the structure of Chinese characters: the size, length, thickness, straightness, square and circle, etc. If you want to write well, you need the cooperation of the brain, the different movements of both hands and the coordination with the whole body. Make the skills of the left and right hemispheres of the brain develop at the same time and improve the ability of mutual coordination.
感知与表达
Perception and Expression
All education is to cultivate a certain ability, and the ability of aesthetic education is a person’s perception and expression. Perception is the energy a child absorbs from the world and the ability to absorb all information, which is his ability to collect information. Expressiveness means that when they absorb it and add their own features, they can express it again. Musicians use notes to express their feelings, painters use strokes to express their feelings, and poets use poems to express their feelings.
In the introduction course of ink painting, we guide students to find the beauty that they don’t notice in life: like the flowers on the branches; each one is different in beauty. Looking up at the sky, I found that the colour of the sky was a little different from yesterday. When picking, observe the growth of strawberries and feel the beauty of the growth of all things.
Learn how to infiltrate beauty in life, and when appropriate, we can learn to use the skills of our hands – the lines, colours, strength, speed, etc. of pen and ink to write a calligraphy work and draw a picture to express it appropriately. Perception and expression progress in training, which is far more than skills, but the overall improvement of aesthetic ability. It’s not just about the work in front of us, but about perception and expression. It’s something to develop in a long life.
独处与自乐
Solitude and Self-pleasure
Being alone may become the norm in many people’s lives. Over time, one must learn to play with oneself. Given the time and space to live alone, can we be happy?
Zhuang Zi mentioned in his works that if you can specialize in a skill, whether you are a cook, a fisherman or a swimmer, if you can integrate with your skills, a writer and a brush, and a singer and music, then he is the happiest and happiest person in the world.
Auesome hopes that each of our students will have such happiness. If they have a hobby, a skill or a craft, they can stay with themselves and have a good time. They can cultivate a small garden by themselves, and the fruits of this garden can be shared with others. Their life is bound to be much happier.
Calligraphy or ink painting, if any skill can be accumulated from quantitative change to qualitative change, it will grow on itself and connect with life, cultivate our sentiment and beautify our life. In our world, get a kind of peace from wholehearted concentration, make it a gift, and then become ordinary.
